A team from AXA Insurance recently spent the day at a children’s community playgroup giving it much more than a lick of paint! Westdene Community Playgroup gave the team of volunteers the opportunity to help improve their facilities.

It was all about team building and our brief was to source a venue, organise the Axa Insurance team and manage a community based project which would allow the delegates to enrich a community with something worthwhile. The community centre, which relies solely on donations, volunteers and the site managers dedication was definitely in need of a face lift and we couldn’t have asked for a better team to do it. So, at 9a.m the unsuspecting group met at a location to be given their brief – their only prior knowledge being ‘to bring some ‘scruffy’ clothes with them!’

The team of 14 was split into smaller teams and each allocated an area of the venue. It was up to them to then come up with innovative and inspirational ideas in which the venue could be enhanced – then make it happen! I think it would be fair to say that this group truly embraced the task – murals, language and bright colours adjourned the walls. Working as a team they used their imaginations and injected a lot of passion into transforming the venue into a space that the children were delighted with! Well done and thank you Axa Insurance!
