We’re not really the kind of company to buy into gloom and doom when it comes to talking about the economic recovery. Having made it through a tough couple of years we’ve seen a sharp upswing in business over the past six to eight months, and going into the first quarter of 2011, the trend continues upwards. We’re kicking ass, as our friends over the pond would say
As conference organisers and event management specialists, we’re kind of at the coalface of economic crisis in a lot of ways. Let’s face it, if your company is slashing budgets, laying off staff and closing offices, it’s hardly the best time to be booking the summer conference or team building away day – and we’ve felt the pinch. But the market for us has been quietly growing in confidence – and so have we. We’re expanding again, with new agents throughout the UK and more destination agents planned, and new multi-lingual office staff in our head office in Brighton. It’s not looking bad at all.
So I was pleased today to see industry bible Meetings & Incentive Travel magazine online presence Meetpie picking up on this, with a report that Meeting Professionals International’s (MPI) FutureWatch 2011 study is forecasting an 8% increase in meetings bookings going into this year.
Personally I’m up for a bit more of an increase than that, but as a benchmark it’s encouraging to read positive news. Whilst we’re not naïve enough to think it’s all over and boom times are ahead this year, it’s good to know that our optimistic outlook is well founded.
It’s budget time anyway, for many corporates. So if you’re planning the year’s events, please give us a shout. Call the office on 01273 771500 or email us
