As an event organiser in Birmingham it’s vital that we keep up to date with venues and events in the city. Meet Birmingham arranged a great showcase last week, held at the newly refurbished Edgbaston Cricket Ground, offering us a chance to hook up with hotels, venues and suppliers. It’s great for us to keep in touch like this and it was a really useful event.
Amongst the venues we had the opportunity to really investigate were the ICC and Aston University where there is heaps of space and crazily cheap accommodation to be had. I had a meeting with Mint Hotels who have been bought out by Hilton for their Garden Inn brand, and the Calthorpe Estate, which houses Edgbaston Tennis Club and Golf club on its private land, amongst many other venues. I’m happy to report a very positive response and even happier to report that we should now be able to negotiate some very favourable rates for our clients!
Besides this I was lucky enough to sample some excellent food by local catering firms, have a good nose round venues and conference space, and test out the great dining options at the ICC. What’s really striking about Birmingham is its accessibility, its flexibility and its adaptability. Whatever size conference or event you were thinking of having, this is a city that can handle it.
