Summer party plannersIt’s the topic on everyone’s lips, and for all the wrong reasons. What the HELL has happened to our summer?! Where is the blazing sun, the al fresco dining, the lazing in the park… and importantly for event organisers, what can you do about the summer party? Mud and rain might be OK for the hardened festival-goers who don’t mind sliding around in their Hunters and hot pants, but what about the rest of us?

OK, don’t freak out. Just because it’s wet, doesn’t mean you can’t have a good party. It just means you’ve got to change your focus a bit. It’s not going to be easy or straightforward and you’re going to have to be flexible.

Firstly, your best friend for a summer like this is a decent marquee. You can still have an outdoor event but you’ve got the bonus of shelter when (notice I didn’t say ‘if’) the heavens open. And they don’t have to be boring… We’ve got so many different styles of marquees, from teepees to formal and traditional, even marquees that look like enormous birds in flight. Coloured marquees too, and even inflatables. Get yourself some serious outside space

Flooring. Nothing like mud for spoiling a nice dress – so think about your grounding. We’re big fans of matting and temporary decking and can supply all sorts of flooring for events. We also have special outdoor electrical cables and sockets for ensuring we don’t blow up our guests.

Think mobile when planning any kind of decoration or entertainment. Anything you can move at short notice is good for this kind of weather. And if you’re planning to actually do something outdoor like team building or games, you should remember to tell everyone to bring waterproofs. If you forget though, we can always supply some for you!

Whatever the weather, we can work round it, and we’re still taking bookings for summer parties this year. I suspect companies have held off, waiting to see if the rain stops. Well – it doesn’t look like it’s going to, not for any sustained period anyway – so grasp the nettle and give us a call. And if you really don’t fancy taking a punt on the sun, we can always find you somewhere nice indoors! Contact us info@prettyclever.co.uk
