James Hill has been described as many things. Last night, however, he reached a new level of bad, and The Apprentice became a real competition. Here’s how it happened…

This week, the teams made their way to the ‘Country Show’ to sell three products, one being of high value.

Team Summit put James in charge, who took Roisin with him to try and win their high value product of choice. Sanjay, Solomon and Bianca were left to pick the other products and despite their recommendations to their PM, good old James went with two completely different products he had never seen. The hot tub owner similarly wasn’t impressed when he called him Derek instead of Anthony, and James lost out on the deal. If this wasn’t awkward enough, he then lied to his team, claiming he had changed his mind and chosen the lawnmowers. ‘All to keep up morale,’ he stated.

Felipe took over team Tenacity. He sent Katie and Mark to sell the luxury hot tubs, which sent ‘top salesman’ Daniel into a hissy fit. He then spent all day arguing with Felipe and scaring off potential customers. But across the fair, Mark was doing a grand job and looked as though he might sell seven hot tubs in one go…

It was good news. Tenacity won with over £30k in sales. Watching James sink deeper and deeper into the pit he had dug for himself was extremely entertaining. But Lord Sugar didn’t let rip on him as much as I’d hoped. James resorted to grovelling, claiming he had worked his way up from nothing and would love for a successful businessman to take him under his wing. A misty-eyed Sugar let him go ‘with regret’.

As unpleasant as James was, the deck doesn’t look quite right without its Joker…
