On a summer’s day in Oxford, 1862, author Lewis Carroll dreamed up an idea for an unusual novel about a curious girl, a nervous rabbit, marching playing cards and a heartless Queen. Since then, it has entertained children and adults alike, has been turned into two cult films and inspired a party theme for event planners such as ourselves! This timeless children’s classic, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, celebrates its 150th anniversary this year.

Special editions of the novel have been released to mark the anniversary, including a striking illustrated version by Dame Vivienne Westwood. It seems a wonder such a pairing has not come about sooner; Westwood is notorious for her fabulously British designs and recent catwalk shows inspired by the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. I think it’s fair to say Lewis Carroll would be over the Cheshire moon.

Alice in Wonderland screams everything British – a dainty tea party, a gripping game of croquet and plenty of mad characters. Lucky we’re all mad here too; our Alice in Wonderland party theme always goes down a treat, especially this time of year! Make sure you’re not late…
