Organising an event by yourself can be daunting, especially if you’ve never done it before. So if you’ve been left in charge of finding a venue for this year’s office Christmas party or any other event, here are a few tips from our award-winning team to steer you in the right direction.

1. Explore more than one venue

At Pretty Clever, we give our clients a choice of venues suited to their budget and other requirements. When booking a space, consider the venue itself beyond the bounds of the function room. Many venues have interesting and surprising assets that can be harnessed for different event types.

2. Think outside the box

Don’t just think hotels. You might be surprised by the number of quirky venues that can accommodate events, particularly in London, from Tower Bridge to Madame Tussauds, The Natural History Museum to London Zoo. And you don’t have to stay still. If your budget stretches a little further this year, treat your guests to their own luxury yacht or private capsule on the London Eye.

3. Let’s talk technology

Harnessing a venue’s technological capabilities can add value to an event without majorly reducing your budget. Technology can be used to add those all-important finishing touches. If you’re visiting on business, you might also want to consider the strength of your venue’s Wi-Fi connection, and the AV equipment on site. Two things we always check for our business delegates!

4. Creative catering

An innovative approach to food can lift your event to the next level. An attractive presentation or unusual menu will get guests mingling and talking. Often, guests will remember the food from an event above anything else.

5. It’s the little things

Our USP at Pretty Clever is theming! Our team loves getting creative and making sure those last little touches make a big impact. Table centrepieces always go down a treat and give guests something to admire while they eat. From winter flowers to LED lamps projecting your brand name, the options are boundless.

Hopefully this is enough to get you started. If you’re still feeling a bit intimidated, we’d love to work with you to take the edge off the pressure and help achieve the vision you have in mind.
